Universal Burnishing Holders

Adaptable Flexibility. Mirror Finishing, Any size. Any configuration. On any turning machine Versatile Burnishing Two styles are available: Universal Burnishing Tools are designed for burnishing shafts, faces, tapers, contours, and relatively large Internal diameters above 70 mm Boring-Bar style and Indexable turning-holder style designs.

Operating Principle , Features and Application

Operating Principle:

The roller burnishing process improves surface characteristics by plastically deforming the material surface using precision rollers. This cold working process enhances the surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical properties without removing material. It is a chipless operation that produces a highly smooth and work-hardened surface while maintaining tight tolerances. This process offers multiple advantages including improved surface integrity, enhanced fatigue strength, and elimination of secondary finishing operations. It is efficient, cost-effective, and suitable for high-precision applications.

Features:

  • Reduced friction
  • Reduced noise level
  • Enhanced corrosion resistance
  • Elimination of tool marks and minor surface imperfections
  • Replaces expensive secondary operations such as grinding, honing, or lapping
  • Cleaner than honing or other abrasive operations

Applications:

  • Turning-Holder Style – Cone tools are designed for use in an indexable turning holder configuration, mounted to a machine turret on a lathe.
  • Boring-Bar Style – Bore tools are designed for use in a machine turret configuration on a CNC lathe, where differing diameters are required from a single tool set-up.
